Network Security Specialist

The Network Security & Connectivity team ensures a secure network infrastructure and enforces application delivery and access policies globally. They manage Firewall, IDS/IPS, and DDI services, and oversee security product operations. To meet growing infrastructure demands, the team seeks Network Security specialists adept at anomaly detection, analysis, and preemptive response across on-premise and cloud environments. Responsibilities include:

• Implementing customer Firewall and DNS requests.
• Designing, configuring, implementing, and maintaining network security measures.
• Managing Access Control, IDS/IPS, and Threat Prevention policies.
• Providing 2nd and 3rd line support, resolving incidents, and participating in projects.
• Managing security services, upgrades, compliance, and operational capacity.
• Developing procedures, maintaining CMDB, and generating usage reports.

This role combines operational and project tasks (75% operational, 25% project-based), with occasional off-hours changes. Based in Utrecht, Netherlands, it offers opportunities to collaborate in a complex technical environment, driving continuous IT service improvement.

In this role, you'll leverage your analytical and troubleshooting skills to efficiently resolve customer issues using logical problem-solving approaches. A strong background in networking, especially at layer 3 and above, is crucial to navigating complex network environments effectively.

We have high expectations for this position, requiring certifications such as CCSE and/or CCSA, along with experience in tools like Illumio, Checkpoint IPS/IDS, or F5. Experience in enterprise network infrastructure security is highly valued. Proficiency in scripting, particularly with PowerShell, is desired, and experience with (API) scripting is a plus. You should be adept at troubleshooting network issues, with experience using tools like Tcpdump and Wireshark.

A broad understanding and experience with security services, including Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Threat Prevention, VPNs, and Web Gateways (e.g., Illumio, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, ZScaler, F5, Akamai, Clearpass, Infoblox), are essential. You should also have a solid grasp of Networking (Routing/Switching, DNS/DHCP) and protocols like IPv4, IPv6, HTTP, SSL, FTP, and DNS. Familiarity with authentication systems and identity providers such as LDAP, MS AD, and ADFS is beneficial, and any programming experience is a plus.

To excel in this role, you should have strong analytical and communication skills, with proficiency in both written and spoken English. Knowledge and experience with Agile, Lean, ITIL, and DevOps methodologies will be advantageous.

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks.
